Munich highlights walking tour

Discover some of the many cultural and historical highlights of Munich during this tour, both inside and outside the historic city center. Benefit from the fact that everything in the center of Munich is within easy walking distance. You will see Munich’s main church and landmark, the Frauenkirche (Cathedral of our Lady), whose two towers are visible from afar, as it is forbidden by law to build anything higher than the towers within the city of Munich. Proceed to Marienplatz (Mary’s Square) with Mary’s column, the New Town Hall and the Old Town Hall. Whenever time permits, your guide will of course show you the most photographed sight in Munich: the carillon in the tower of the New Town Hall, which is presented twice a day in winter and three times a day in summer. Nearby, you will visit Munich’s oldest church, St. Peter, whose tower is affectionately known as “Old Peter”. Your tour will also pass by the Royal Residence, Germany's largest inner-city palace. This impressive structure was the former seat of government and residence of the Bavarian rulers between 1508 and 1918. Following its destruction in World War II, the Residence was gradually reconstructed and is now part of one of the largest museums complexes in Bavaria.

Let yourself be guided through an extremely interesting and entertaining brewing experience. Afterwards, you will enjoy a typical Bavarian lunch snack and taste the beer, whose production process you just learned about. In the afternoon your guide will take you for a stroll through the Viktualienmarkt where you can marvel at the amazing variety of food products. End your day tour with a workshop where you learn how to make pretzels, this wonderful Bavarian snack, which you then can prepare at home.

Oktoberfest - premium package

Munich's Oktoberfest is the world's largest "Volksfest" which is held annually in Munich and takes place from late September to the first weekend in October. More than 6 million visitors from around the world attending the event every year. The Oktoberfest is an important part of Bavarian culture, having been held since the year 1810. Fourteen large, and numerous smaller tents, are located on the Theresienwiese, where vast quantities of specially brewed Oktoberfest beer, roast chicken and pork knuckles are served. Visitors can also enjoy numerous attractions, such as amusement rides, side stalls and games.

Guests will be met by a host or hostess in their hotel lobby and accompanied to the festival grounds. The host or hostess will lead the guests to their tent, make sure they find their allocated seat and - in case of a booked transfer service - lead the guests after the conclusion of the seat reservation to the meeting point for the return transfer. The package includes a seat reservation in a tent and 2 litres of beer per person and a meal.

3rd Reich walking tour Munich & Dachau concentration camp memorial

In 1920 Adolf Hitler founded the National Socialist German Workers Party (NSDAP) in Munich and gave Munich the honorific title „Capital of the Movement.” During the tour, you will gain insights into the role the city played in the rise of Hitler and his NS Party, as well as the Holocaust and the Allies’ post-war denazification program. You will visit many of the places steeped in history: the Königsplatz, which was converted into a kind of Heroes' Square at Adolf Hitler's request, the former Führerbau, which once housed Hitler's personal office, the administration building and the remnants of the two "temples of honour", two temples for the so-called "blood witnesses" of the failed "Beer Hall Putsch".

The Concentration Camp Dachau was one of the first camps the Nazis established after they came to power in 1933. During the first years, mainly political prisoners and opposition members were brought there. Then, after the so-called “Reichsprogromnacht” in 1938, more and more Jews and other “non-Arians” as well as anti-regime thinking people were deported to one of the most well-known KZs. Over 200,000 people were imprisoned at Dachau – around 41,500 perished. The US Army liberated the camp on 29th April 1945.Your guide will show you around and you will have time to explore at your own pace as well if you like.

Zugspitze - experience the bavarian alps

An excursion into nature is a welcome change from a lively city stay and no less exciting. In fair weather, the Zugspitze, Germany’s highest vantage point at nearly 3,000 metres above sea level offers clear views over 400 peaks in Germany, Austria, Italy and Switzerland – including the highest mountains in the eastern Alps, some of which are more than 4,000 m high. The ascent with the Zugspitze cable car offers spectacular views down to the lake, before new horizons open up with a powerful panorama at the Zugspitze Peak. The Zugspitze Glacier at 2,600 metres is then accessed using the glacier lifts, before the rack and pinion railway comfortably transports you through the Zugspitze Tunnel and back to your original starting point.

In the Pretzel workshop, guests learn how the typical Bavarian pretzel is made and which ingredients are contained in a perfect pretzel. Under expert guidance, the dough will be prepared before you try your hand at the most important part: the art of pretzel rolling. The pretzels are then dipped in lye, before they are placed in a hot oven. After a few minutes, the warm pretzels are ready to be tasted.
